Resident Evil is still one of the most treasured horror game franchises in the industry, and aside from its creative mythology and lore, the unique characters are a large reason for its success. That’s why the series continues to get live-action adaptations, even if they don’t seem to please fans or casual viewers alike. Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game in which four resourceful survivors face off against one ruthless killer. The survival horror game has become a dating sim, and even nabbed the team behind the bizarreKFC sim “I Love You Colonel Sanders” to work on the project. Hooked On You delivers what it sets out to do in this parody dating sim and will please visual novel and Dead By Daylight fans alike. The narrative style definitely lends to the overall story experience, especially when paired with the witty dialogue, and although it can be completed in a single sitting there’s plenty to uncover with its replayability. You are not here for what little music is featured in this odd duck of a game.
Mini-games are also one of the game’s main interactive aspects, and there are plenty scattered throughout the story. They’re repetitive and uninteresting and mainly require you to press the space bar to hit a target on a spinning wheel which increases its speed each round. They’re not special and don’t add anything to the overall experience except for a few lines of dialogue from Killers if you absolutely suck, so your performance results do matter in some cases. I did laugh at a lengthy foot joke that’s revisited twice during my time dating Spirit. The art reimagines your favorite killers without making them unrecognizable, the romantic and secret endings are all fun, the short runtime compliments the need for multiple playthroughs. I enjoyed all of the romantic and secret endings, but the friendship endings make little sense.
Maps
Popular Killers featured include The Huntress, The Trapper, The Wraith, and The Spirit. The story will follow the player as they uncover dark twists, forge friendships, and find true love along the way. In addition, the stream offered a look at a title codenamed Project S. It’s an open-world puzzle game that features single-player, co-op and large multiplayer modes.
Of course, you (perhaps with a friend’s help in co-op mode) will infiltrate other players’ bases to try and steal material from them. This iconic duo helps you through your time on Murderer’s island – take the word “help” with a pinch of salt, here – advising you of your wider purpose and when you slip up. The two of them provide most of the jokes and the banter, while The Ocean’s eerie visuals remind you there’s still something dark going on every time you start enjoying this island getaway.
Killers
While they might be inside your head, it turns out others can hear them too, and they play the character of the voice over. And while there are some shining moments like having one of Spirit’s glass shards embedded in me post-coitus, Hooked on You is ultimately a bit tame. While I expected that licensed Dead by Daylight killers like Michael Myers and Freddy Kreuger wouldn’t make the cut, tons of original killers were absent as well.
The DLCs can be acquired by either purchasing them normally through Steam or non-licensed characters can be purchased through a shop within the game using an in-game currency called iridescent shards. This alternative way of obtaining the DLCs was introduced in the 2.0 update. Each DLC has its own trailer and a so-called “spotlight” that exhibits the Killer and Survivor as well as a new in-game map. The relevant DLC does not need to be purchased in order for any map to be played on.

Doing well at these is sure to impress your sexy murderer of choice, and I love that they took something recognisable by fans and added it to spice up the reading. In addition to DLCs, other collaborations have resulted in purely cosmetic items being added to existing characters. Collaborations with Crypt TV and Attack on Titan added cosmetic items to original characters in order to make them resemble characters from those franchises.
Other cosmetic items have been added from titles such as For Honor.
